White Goose

Earlier today, it was reported by the IBLE that there was an “…all white” goose in Julia Davis Park in Boise. Here are some photos I took of the bird. My best guess is either a Snow Goose (SNGO) or a Ross’ Goose (ROGO). But because the Snow Goose is not normally found in Idaho and the migration path is not in this area, my bet is a Ross’ Goose – sometimes found in Idaho. Any comments?

  1. Actually, Snow Geese are much more common than Ross' geese during migration in Idaho. I'd compare Snow Goose abundance to Canada Goose abundance, and Ross' Goose abundance to Cackling Geese.
